Decompression Sessions
Working on yourself and your healing is awesome, but sometimes we need to just be. Decompression Sessions are exactly that.
What are Decompression Sessions?
Why do these sessions work? How are they helpful?
In psychology we have learned that stress and trauma create destructive patterns in the brain that grow stronger and stronger as they are repeated. For example, think about a time you felt anxious or depressed, and how that feeling developed overtime. What we now know from the study of neuroscience and neuroplasticity is that the brain can change and heal itself - if given the opportunity. We have learned that if the brain has even a few minutes of safety and peace, healing can begin. When we create a space for both the horse and for the person to have this safety and peace together, they both can begin to heal.
Horses especially seek out this space - horses seek peace and safety in everything. Safety comes from being together, knowing that if anything happens, we have each other's backs. Peace comes when we drop our intentions, and just be together. Building relationship. Building trust. And building connection. This creates a serene environment where both can heal together. Building skills is important, and getting on track is important. (We see how hard you are working, and we are proud of you) AND Rest is equally important. Plus, you deserve to rest- Hey! You actually NEED to rest!
